1959-1964
Overview
Although the second generations is a relatively small amount of time, a few major things were released in the world of technology, including a mouse, an operating system, and the first computer game. These computers used transistors to compute and store data instead of vacuum tubes. They were more reliable than vacuum tubes and were smaller and less expensive.

APT~1959
Also known as Automatically programmed tool, this programming language was created by Douglas T. Ross and made numerically controlled manufacturing possible. It was a high-end language and was used to program machines that could do work instead of humans on the assembly line.

Spacewar Computer Game- 1962
This was known to be the first computer game ever invented and was created by Steve Russell & MIT. The game was 2 player, with each player trying to destroy the other from opposite ends of the screen. A star in the middle pulled ships toward it and maneuvering was required to stay away. Also, there was a hyper drive implemented so that players could teleport to a different location on the screen at the risk of exploding.

Computer Mouse & Windows- 1964
The first mouse, created by Douglas Engelbart, revolutionized computers. It was a square brick with a sphere on the bottom that detected movement. When the mouse moved, a pointer on the computer screen moved as well, allowing people to do more with computers. Along with the mouse came Windows, which supported the mouse. The Windows OS was not very polished but allowed users to to a lot more with their computers.
